How has being a History graduate from Duke helped shape you personally and/or professionally?

"The research and writing has helped me to be essentially a professional researcher and writer. I help my clients develop foreign assistance programs through research (mostly via communications with institutions and individuals in each country, as well as desk research, and co-design work), then develop program designs as part of funding proposals. I use the perspective I gained from learning history to inform my understanding of other countries."

What advice would you give students in Duke's History programs?

"Study more deeply the history that interests you the most! And also, expand beyond the areas you might initially be drawn to. Learn about a place and time you know very little about! It's exciting."
