1995 Major: History
"My history degree helped me in my ability to research, read, synthesize information, think critically, and write, to name just a few skills. These apply in nearly any role or profession. I also developed my interest in history itself. Understanding historical context is a powerful tool to interpreting the times and seeing into the causes and meaning of events."
"This major will equip you in any sort of profession where communication is important. And what job doesn’t require excellent communication skills? Critical thinking, synthesizing information, and a curiosity about the past/origins of a situation will equip you in leadership and decision making. My advice? Take as broad a range of history classes as possible. Learn about the world. Enjoy learning. Even if every bit I’d info doesn’t feel like it would “apply” in your first job, you’re learning about the world and you will find that of great value."
