How has being a History graduate from Duke helped shape you personally and/or professionally?

"I have been working in independent school for the last 26 years as a teacher and administrator. I was certainly prepared to lead my own classroom...pedagogy as well as content. My time at Duke also taught me how to think critically and creatively which I have used ever since. Being a Duke grad has never gotten me a job but it has gotten me plenty of interviews! I also learned to write at Duke and that has been an invaluable skill to me."

What advice would you give students in Duke's History programs? 

"There are so many career paths that you can take using your history degree. You'll be forever in debt to the department for helping you to think analytically while understanding the importance of well-researched thinking and opinions."
