How has being a History graduate from Duke helped shape you personally and/or professionally?

"1. The content fostered my career in education. 2. The content I learned over 30 years ago has become startlingly relevant now. 3. The critical thinking skills have directly transferred to my work in educational administration. 4. I entered Duke with a love of history; my experience there broadened my understanding of the world in significant ways, thereby deepening my love of the discipline."

What advice would you give students in Duke's History programs?

"Take courses that are outside your immediate area of interest, whether it be studying another area of the world, another time period, or a tangential discipline. Diversity in study yields greater understanding in the area of interest."
