Health and Healing in Africa. This course focuses on the ways in which African people have conceived of wellness and health. We will explore the diverse history of healing mechanisms that African people have employed, ranging from pharmacological technologies to religious rites. Ideas about health and healing have been at the center of many African religious practices over time, and they have been very important in mediating the introduction of Western medicine on the continent.
