Former graduate student, Max Krochmal, now a faculty member at Texas Christian University, was awarded the Frederick Jackson Turner award for the best first book by an American historian at the OAH meeting in New Orleans last week-end. Max's book, Blue Texas:The Making of a Multiracial Democratic Coalition in the Civil Rights Era (UNC press), was his dissertation at Duke.
