Phil Stern has won the Trevor Reese Memorial Prize for his bookThe Company-State: Corporate Sovereignty and the Early Modern Foundations of the British Empire in India, published by Oxford University Press in 2011. This prize, offered every three years by the Institute of Commonwealth Studies, London, is awarded for that book judged to make a "wide-ranging, innovative and scholarly contribution in the broadly-defined field of Imperial and Commonwealth History." The current award covers works published in the years 2010-2012.
