Foundations of American Legal Thought

A study of American legal thought from the revolutionary era to the present, focusing on the twentieth century. Students will learn about the common law, legal realism, constitutionalism, critical legal theory, and other major schools of legal interpretation. These schools will be placed into historical context, allowing students to understand how the interpretation and application of the law has been shaped by events outside the courtroom.
