Rethinking Care Economies
This course explores the economic nature of caring — including not only dependents and households but also communities, workplaces, and environments. By taking an interdisciplinary, transnational approach to thinking about care labors and care economies, seminar participants will consider the ways that current practices and policies foster racial and gender inequalities. This course will examine some of the challenges and possibilities for reimagining care economies and the structures of care labor.
