Book Talk with Dr. Felicia Arriaga, '12, '15, '18

You are invited to a book talk with Duke alum Dr. Felicia Arriaga, AB'12, AM '15, PhD'18. Currently a professor at Baruch College, CUNY, Dr. Arriaga will discuss her 2023 book, "Behind Crimmigration" (UNC Press, 2023).

The book discussion will focus on the racial, economic, and political issues that have shaped federal, state, and local policies-including policies specific to North Carolina-that have led to increased enforcement in immigrant communities.

A native of North Carolina, Dr. Arriaga earned her Bachelors, Masters and PhD at Duke University in Sociology while participating in student activism and local organizations. Dr. Arriaga is a public sociologist who has focused much on her work in collaborating with immigrant communities and exploring the impacts of immigration laws and related policies. She also serves as the Executive Director of the NC-based community organization, el Pueblo.
