Colloquium with Anna Krylova: Marx vs Foucault on Ideology and Power

Join us for the History Department’s colloquium series, featuring Anna Krylova’s book chapter, “Marx vs Foucault on Ideology and Power.” The chapter is from her book manuscript, History-Writing or Sleepwalking Through History in Neoliberal Times, that rethinks American historians’ encounter with the poststructuralist intellectual project and explores the analytical and political price the discipline has paid for the poststructuralist upgrade of its analytics.

Anna Krylova is an intellectual historian at Duke University and award-winning author specializing in Modern Russian history, gender history, and historical and social theory. She has written extensively on questions of American historiography, social theory, gender theory, socialist feminism, Western and Soviet Marxism, as well as modern Russia and the history of Soviet socialism. 

The colloquium series features works in progress by History Dept. faculty and lively discussion over lunch.
