As he approaches retirement, Professor Thomas Robisheaux shares thoughts from his decades in teaching and scholarship at Duke University.
Robisheaux reflects on his first-hand experience of teaching and learning at Duke as it transformed from a regional liberal arts university into the top-ranked international research university of today. Drawing on his diverse perspectives- as a Duke undergraduate in the 1970s, a young history professor in the 1980s, award-winning teacher and faculty leader since the 1990s, and active Duke alum- Robisheaux shares perspectives on how the growth of Duke has re-shaped learning and teaching in an era of increased diversity, research, and global connectivity, and outreach.
Truly, an eyewitness to history... at Duke University as both student and faculty, within Duke's celebrated Department of History, and- as a professional historian- on the front lines of higher education and research, Tom Robisheaux's reflections are sure to be insightful, entertaining, and useful in this time of academic upheaval.
