My research examines how sexuality relates to conquest. My MA thesis argued that Spanish colonizers employed the accusation of sodomy so as to appropriate land from the indigenous Pueblo in Santa Fe, New Mexico in the eighteenth century. I intend to further my theoretical knowledge of gender, especially that of masculinity, and sexuality while at Duke. I work under the supervision of Professor Peter Sigal.
My latest article, "Archival Epistemology: Honor, Sodomy, and Indians in Eighteenth-Century New Mexico" was published in the July edition of Ethnohistory.
