How has being a History graduate from Duke helped shape you personally and/or professionally?

"The analytic skills learned during my undergraduate years have enhanced my ability to identify and understand emerging trends in a complex environment. As a history graduate I have a deeper appreciation of how individual and institutional history shapes current state, and can help predict future events."

What advice would you give students in Duke's History programs?

"Nothing in the world today emerges de novo. As a student of history you will learn to appreciate how past events and persons have shaped every aspect of our society. This will give you valuable insight about the people, places, cultures and institutions you will encounter throughout your life."
