How has being a History graduate from Duke helped shape you personally and/or professionally?

"Helped tremendously with cogent writing and learning how to research a question and make a succinct argument. Broadened knowledge. Understand cultures and history to help connect with people."

What advice would you give students in Duke's History programs?

"History gives a broad training that has helped me be a better physician. Learning to formulate questions, research a topic, and write well is critical. You can apply your Duke History degree to nearly any job. The most important skill for a physician is to “take a history”. What better training than to major in History. Your undergrad degree doesn’t need to make your resume look better."
