How has being a History graduate from Duke helped shape you personally and/or professionally?

"Such fond memories of wide ranging interesting topics. Small classrooms with engaging students, invigorating discourse, and compelling teachers. Taught me how to absorb and critically read, process and synthesize my thoughts, and then present my papers/ideas with greater sophistication. Allowed me to become engrossed in historical topics before being immersed in medicine. Helped me to be a critical reader when subsequently interpreting medical research."

What advice would you give students in Duke's History programs?

"Sample different areas of the department and realize that the background and experience of this degree can take you in many directions into varying professions."
