Frances Hasso is the author of, among other works, “Buried in the Red Dirt: Race, Reproduction, and Death in Modern Palestine” (Cambridge University Press, 2021). In addition to her current appointments at Duke, Dr. Hasso directed the International Comparative Studies program at Duke from 2010-2015. She is Editor Emerita of the Journal of Middle East Women’s Studies, and has earned fellowships at the National Humanities Center, the Rockefeller Foundation, the American Center of Research,and the Social Science Research Center/American Council of Learned Societies.
